RF over Glass Technology (RFoG)

    Fiber-to-the-Building with DOCSIS 3.1

As the merging of TV and Internet gains momentum bandwidth requirements are increasing. TV services in HD format - and soon Ultra HD - are the main driving forces. In this context the cost-intensive expansion of optical fiber networks has become a hot topic for debate. Cable providers and  city carriers are looking for cost-efficient solutions to upgrade their existing network infrastructures to the level of FTTB or even FTTH. Other FTTx implementations are possible as well.

The use of the RFoG (Radio Frequency over Glass) technology is considered a high-performance option. RFoG is a PON that transmits RF signals via fiber to the subscriber. In a downstream direction it works similarly to a HFC network. With ORD-5561, DTK Electornics offers an optical platform that is exceptionally powerful for this application. The modular system is particularly flexible, displays high density, is very reliable and is usable in FTTx networks for RF over Glass, RF Overlay and HFC applications. ORD-5561 and the RFoG technology offer network providers a further advantage. They can continue to use previous investments, such as provisioning and billing systems, CMTS platforms, headend equipment, set-top boxes, conditional access technologies and cable modems.

DTK Electronics "NO OBI", RFoG, Optical Node ORD-5561 enables cost-effective positioning of full interactive video, voice and data services over an RFoG network. Optimized upstream wavelength pre-conditioning accommodates up to 16 ONUs to be deployed into a single receiver. DTK Electronics Optical Beat Interference "NO OBI" technology allows multiple upstream RF channel transmissions, enabling full DOCSIS 3.1 channel bonding to be deployed efficiently utilizing all available upstream bandwidth.

Cable operators can deploy advanced FTTB topologies with full customer support using their existing HFC networks, or building new PON networks. ORD-5561 supports any RFoG solution that uses standard industry wavelengths to and from the premises. The high level RF output supports a wide array of MDU splitter network designs, removing the need of distribution amplifiers.

The compact size supports existing building enclosures but can also be mounted in optional enclosure for exterior applications. As advanced cooling find design ensures optimal heat conductance away from the unit. DTK electronics is committed to providing full end-to-end solutions to cable operators as they roll-out next-generation network architectures, and these DOOCSIS 3.1 compatible devises are integral part to our solution.
